6.29.08 - WALL.E
Today we took Grant to see WALL.E at the theater and it was a cute movie. (YEA, we contributed to the successful opening weekend) I was pertty disapointed unfortunately!
6.28.08 -- Space Station
We woke up at 5:40 this morning and all sat in the driveway in our pajamas and watched the spacestation go over. It was remarkably large. It has been 8-9 years since the last time we saw it and it is much larger than it was before. Grant was impressed and he is pretty hard to impress.
6.23.08 -- The Tadpole Experiment
Well we bought a tadpole house but you have to mail the little certificate in and then they will mail your 2 tadpoles back, the problem with this is they won't ship them when it is hot and in Texas that could even be in December so that was unacceptable for us. The people that live behind us have a pond so that is where we decided to begin our hunt. We got on our bikes a rode to their house and they just happened to be in the back yard and were thrilled to get rid of the pesky little things that had invaded their pond. So they kept fishing the little boogers out and we kept putting them in our cup. The optimal number that they suggested in the book was like 2 so we decided that 15 would work and our frog rearing adventure began. Well the length of time it takes them to mature depends on the temperature and as you can guess inside our house is significantly cooler than outside in the summer in Houston so we ended up raising them most of the summer. Our mortality rate was very high (so we have decided against starting a frog farm) we did fine while they were tadpoles but once they changed into frogs it was all downhill! This made for some difficult discussions with Grant on where the cute tiny frog that was in there this morning went, but we survived.
6.20.08 -- Leah's Wedding
6.19.08 -- UH Childrens Theater
Once again we purchsed tickets to the UH Childrens theater for the two plays that they will be showing this summer. Today we went to see sleeping beauty and it was amazing. I cannot believe what an awesome show that they put on and what a great value it is. Later that evening we had Swimming lessons and Grant is progressing quite well!

6.13.08 -- Zoobilee
Well today we went to Zoobilee with the Moore's this is now kinda a yearly tradition with our families and thank goodness it did not pour this year like it did last year. The kiddos had an excellent time and the adults did too. Danny brought his new lens and I cannot wait to see the photos that he snapped. We even ran into some other friends while we were there the Brown Family (Paul, Debbie, Harrison, Tony, Carly, Ben and Liam.)
6.10.08 -- Morgan & Miss Molly
We went out to the Crosby Fair tonight to see Morgan and her pig Miss Molly. She competed in the heavy weight division (she was a porker) and she won then she went to the overall and won Grand Champion!!! YEA MORGAN!!! It was really exciting for everyone, and that means she goes to auction tomorrow. (she ended up getting 4K for her)

5.31.08 -- OH CANADA!
Today was the day for fun! We checked out of the hotel threw the suitcases in the car and made a run for the border! We stopped to see the Canadian side of the falls before all the touristy stuff opened, there were very few people and it was really nice. Then we jumped back in the car and headed out across the Canadian country side up the border (we came back in at a different location) It was funny because I was really relieved to return to the US! Right before we crossed the border we stopped at Walmart and walked around the store and bought nothing because of the conversion factor and we can get the same stuff in the us at the Walmart down the street! Canada was beautiful and I cannot describe it but I was really relieved to return to the US even if I was still a long way from home.
The Photos:
The Tulips were beautiful and the were everywhere but most of the beds we saw we were in the car moving. There is a photo of hotels on the American side of the falls and we were staying in one of them. I took a photo of the KM/H sign the speed limits were significantly lower over there. Just photos of the falls.

5.30.08 - Battle of the Regions
Well today was the NRG Battle of the Regions and it was awesome! We started at around 8 am driving to the plant about 20 minutes from the hotel. The guys spent the night on the trailer (It was pretty chilly when we left the night before). Everyone was really impressed with the Shiner Beer that the guys imported and we made quite a few great trades for it! We got a big bag of Shrimp and they spiced them and threw them on the grill (we were getting pretty burnt out on BBQ) We also traded for two large bags of chicken breasts and they spiced them up and grilled them for the mass taste testing that occurred that evening in the tent. When the guys came back to the trailed we proudly showed them our chicken and they said let me guess another Shiner trade!
All the people were so awesome and the people from the Huntley Power Plant were such wonderful hosts! They wanted to make sure we understood that all people from NY were not rude and this was definitely true!
We ended up taking first in Dessert, First in Baseball and Second in Food! We lost by they claim less than one point to the Western Region and the defending Champs (South Central) won Third. We are convinced that we lost because the baseball team won and we want them to judge the food BEFORE the final game next year! OH WELL IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE AND WELL WORTH EVERYTHING!

5.29.08 -- Flying to Buffalo NY (not TX)
Well David and I flew to Bufflao NY today and as soon as we hit the ground we went to the power plant to help out and hang out with the cookoff team. We had a wonderful steak dinner (I am pretty confident that we could not have found better food any where around.) Then we finally made it to the beautiful Seneca Niagra hotel. After we took our bags up to the room we came back down and hung out at the social mixer for a little while then we checked out the casino.
The deer really liked the grass they planted for the baseball field!
