5.1.09 -- Dr Appointment/NASA Shower/Photos

Today I started the day with a trip to the Dr. Office and I mentioned to the Dr. that she was not moving as much and she sent me over for a non-stress test??? They hooked me up to monitors to see how the baby was doing. She was moving a little but it was really small movements and I was not feeliing them. Well they buzzed her three times and she went crazy and they were very happy with the movements then. It is VERY reasuring to know that everything is ok. Then I came back to this side of town and picked up Romaine, Mom and Grant and we headed back to Clear Lake for the Nasa baby shower. It was so much fun, to get to see everyone and there were so many presents. It was amazing! Roger (one of David's friends from work) brought Grant two transformers and they were sitting over there opening the packagese and playing with them and they looked too cute.

Then we rushed home because Alecia was coming over to take some photos! I am so excited she let me look at them in the camera and they look like they are going to be awesome!!! I am just so glad that we were able to take them before Aubrey decided to come! Now the pressure is off!

4.28.09 -- GRANT'S OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY!

We promised Grant that we would take him out for dinner, so we called Grandma and Grandpa, Nana & Papa and Megan then we went to the TEXAS ROADHOUSE! It was so much fun they had a balloon artist and she made him a spiderman balloon and it was TOO CUTE. Then we all had a lovely dinner.

4.26.09 -- Crazy Day

Well we started the day out in Church and then it is a long story but Grant was going to go on a field trip on Friday to the Circus but his name was accidently left off the list so they did not take him. Well the teacher brought back tickets for us to take him later and so when we left Church we stopped a Burger King to grab a bite for the trip. Well I got it all programed into the GPS and it said that there was absoloutely no way that we were going to make it there on time. Well we were already on the road so we promised Grant that we would take him to the Zoo instead (that membership pays off) so we get there and they won't even let you turn on the street leading up to the Zoo it is so full!!!! So here we go again. Well we see a sign for a farmers market and I convince him that this may be fun! So off we go to find the farmers market. Well it is only on Saturday!!!! So then we told him that we could go to Central Market. So lo and behold we finally ended up there and they were open! It was crazy!!! But he was happy so who cares....

4.25.09 -- Grant's Party!

Well today we had Grant's birthday party! It was so much fun. The kiddos bounced & slid in the bouncy/slide combo and it was wonderful. I was terrified because after the monsoon last night I was not sure if they would deliver it today and I really did not want muddy little kids running in and out of my house!!!! (especially since mom picked up my nesting last night and steamed the livingroom carpet) There should be an ad for the Delux Shark Steamer right here. I cannot believe how wonderful it worked!!!! We ended up putting it on the driveway and a table and chairs under the port cochere and it was breezy enough that everyone was comfortable.

4.24.09 -- Dr Visit (37 Weeks 1 Day)

Well today I had a Dr. Visit and an ultrasound and I thought I would share the photo from the 4D!!!! Yea! On the ultrasound it said she was 7lbs. but the Dr. measured her and she was measuring big still that is when she told me that there is a 1lb. margin of error. I also found out that I am dialated 1cm and I lost 1lb. so I am at a grand total of 9lbs. now. We put a photo from the hospital of Grant next to her and it was amazing how much they looked alike!!! Please remember that they typically don't do these this far along, but because I have so much fluid they were able to and it turned out remarkable well.

4.22.09 -- Training

Well, today I spent the entire day in Incident Investigator training at the plant (I really hope that they pass out capes at the end of the day tomorrow)! Can't you just see me in an incident commander cape :-) Well now that you have that visual.... I have had some questions about what type of plant that I work in and I work in a power plant and I am the purchasing person for the plant. I love my job where else do you get to shop all the time, and get an awesome hard hat and steel toed boots! Seriously, I love what I do and I love the people that I work with what else could I ask for.

4.21.09 -- Plant Baby Shower

Well my plant threw me a baby shower today and it was adorable. All the men gave it their best shot and it was too cute! I have a ton of Big Brothers there and it is amazing! I cannot believe how blessed I have been with them and the women that I work with. I have added a photo of the carseat that they went together and bought me in additon to all the WONDERFUL gifts that were SOOOOO Adorable. This girl thing is really fun there is so much adorable stuff and I sure wish David was here to enjoy all the PINK!!! I had asked him how he would feel about it and he told me that as long as he was holding his little princess that it did not matter that he was wearing a pink diaper rag!

Here is a photo of the beautiful cake that they had made for the event. It had to be pretty big to serve everyone!

4.17.09 -- Nana's Sick

Well today I woke up to find that Nana had Grant's bug from the other day! I took Grant to school, went by the shop left a note, grabbed her appointment book, called as many customers as I could reach and tried to help her as much as I could. Hopefully Dad has not been exposed to this because that is all he needs with still healing from his surgery.

I ordered a VHS/DVD recorder the other day because our wedding and other family memories are on VHS tapes and I wanted to transfer them to DVD's so they will last and I was able to successfully transfer our wedding video (while catching a nap in the floor) to DVD! I am SO PROUD of myself. Other than this I have not accomplished much today.

4.16.09 -- Thursday Night

Today at work one of the beautiful women from the plant I work in (we refer to her as the plant mom) brought me the most beautiful James Avery Charm for my bracelet. I really loved it and almost ordered but had not done it yet. It says the heart remembers and she had David's name engraved on the back. It is absoloutely beautiful!

Then when I arrived home and checked my mail today I had a beautiful book, card and photos from Bridgett (Danny/Patti's & Brian/Rachel's neighbor) we have become friends thru the parties that they throw. I have not had a chance to start it yet but I flipped thru it and it looks amazing and the extremely neat part of this is that her mom wrote the book and autographed it! What an awesome gift.

(Sorry I just started listing these, but it just got to a point where I could) I have been so overwhelmed by the outreach from so many people. You really don't realize how many special people you have in your life until something terrible happens, and the really cool part about that is that is when you REALLY need them!

Tonight we decided to run grab a bite to eat we did not want Grant to run at soccer practice because we did not want him to get sick again (we are NOT puching our luck). We went to La Madeline and grabbed dinner and dropped of my charm bracelet at James Avery to get some charms added. Afterwards we went over to Lakeshore Learning to get some more stuff to practice sight words and writing with Grant. He is doing really well but we are trying to improve his handwriting which David's Mom told me that he struggled with until the teachers finally gave up because he was a straight A student! So here is another thing that he got from his Father (we will take the brains with the messy handwriting).

4.15.09 -- Grant's Sick

Well last night Grant woke up very sick! He threw up all night and had to stay home from school. It was a really rough night and even worse was thinking that in the future I will have to do this with two kids by myself! Lucky for me (but not mom, see later post) she was here to help me this time, but I took the night shift becuase she had to work the next day and I had already taken off to handle some business and to take Grant to the Dr. that doesn't give shots (as he refers to her). Today Aunt Raynel stopped by with some docs for us (THANK YOU SO MUCH) and she brought an absoloutely beautiful sympathy card (and I should now be qualified to be a sympathy card judge) and the most beautiful silver Hallmark ornament that says "always in our hearts." I love this becuase it reminds me that I am not the only one that has lost someone. Everyone around me is greiving his loss together and seperately.

11.12.09 -- Easter Sunday

Well today was our first holiday without David and I believe the first Easter that I have not heard him sing in Church in YEARS! We were there and April sat with us (YEAH!) After Church I ran into Mike (David and Mike were in a quartet together at our old church) in the front and he asked me where David was, he was so excited to see me and said that he had been looking for David in the choir and had not seen him. I did not realize that no one had let him know and everything happened so quickly he had not been notified (I felt horrible). Mike was devistated when I told him, and he acted like he just could not believe it! He had been so excited to see me because he knew David would be there too and they could sing together again, and I had to tell him that he had died. He hugged me and I just cried alot!

Well after Church I was feeling pretty crummy (I have been hurting all over) so I went home and we just bummed out all day. It was really what I needed to do. I really missed the party at David's Aunt's house and the annual walk, but I just could not handle it today with how I have been feeling.

4.11.09 -- Easter Egg Hunts

Well today we started the day at Church for their annual egg hunt, then we went to the island where David's Aunt & Uncle live and hunted eggs in their neighborhood hunt. It was really fun! We ran into several people that we know from the community and invited them back for the services tomorrow, we really love this church. After the egg hunt we picked up lunch and then April and her two boys came over to the house to play for awhile. I kept falling asleep so she took the boys to her house to let me catch some z's all of this is really starting to wear me out and I am not sure how much longer I will be able to keep up this pace.

Later that afternoon I lost all connectivity to the outside world via the computers. I reset the network and all the things that I have been approved to touch (which is not much) and as I became increasingly panicked I realized that I just needed to call Uncle Alan! I called him and asked if he would put us on the list when he had some time and he rushed right over and discovered that the wireless router had expired so he rushed up to Walmart and picked up a new one and set it up!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Which reminds me I am up to 120 thank you notes out and I am still working on them so if you haven't seen one yet....it will be coming to a mailbox near you soon.

SENSITIVE STOMACH ALERT! (Don't read any further)
I forgot to share about the midnight laundry duty! Grant has had a cough and he started coughing and choked and puked all in my BED (thank goodness I purchased the super duper matress protector) So anyway I went from my WONDERFUL Tempur-Pedic bed to Grant's room for the remainder of the night (that may be why I felt so terrible today. :-)

4.10.09 -- Fun Day with Family from Georgetown, TX

Well today Carl and Christy and their 3 Kiddos came by for an action packed day, and Lauren stopped by to join in the fun also!

We started the day with haircuts (how exciting) then we went and picked up pizza on the way home (can't go wrong)when we arrived home we arrived to the Garrett swallowed a tab off a coke can delimmia. After Christy was able to contact her sister that is a Dr. for instructions on how to deal with this we poked him full of fiber and moved on (for all of you out there without children this should be good birth control :-) unscheduled trips to emergency clinics and ER's are LOADS of fun). Then we whipped out the slip and slide that Allen and Dianne got Grant as his BIG BROTHER gift (thanks a BUNDLE for not forgetting him he is kinda stressed now that everyone is so excited about the new baby). I snuck in for a nap while there was plenty of "ADULT" supervision for the kiddos. When they were done they were FREEZING so they all ran to the neighbor's house and jumped into their hot tub to warm up. Dad and I then decided to run up to Houston Garden Center and pick out some new plants for the 1/2 of our flower bed that David and I ripped out before finding out that I was pregnant and did not get back to (it was not worth the risk after all that we had been thru to get pregnant this time). When we returned home mom was cooking dinner so we all went to work in the yard replacing the plants. I pointed out locations and planted the little bedding color plants while the guys dug the holes and placed the larger plants. Then we all went inside and had a wonderful dinner of Chicken and Dumplins.

Well, it was QUITE A DAY! and we are all pooped! Off to the Easter egg hunts tomorrow.....

4.9.2008 -- Dr Visit

Well today I had another Dr. Visit and she is still growing by the measurements, but I lost another 2#'s. I am now at a grand total of 10#'s for this pregnancy. Wish I could balance the two with Grant I swear I gained 40#'s!

She consulted with Dr. Goodrum SP? (a maternal fetal specialist) and she said that it was too risky to let me labor with the size of the baby and my history with Grant and that they should just do a c-section to avoid any risk to either of us.

Right now we are looking at a birthday of May the 6th (one appointment left), 7th (a few appointments) or the 8th (wide open) as D-day! We asked the scheduling desk for a sneak peek at her schedule for the week she is planning on bringing her. My next appointment is on the 24th and I will have another ultrasound to see how big she is.

4.5.09 -- My Friend & Her Girls Baptism, Baby Shower

Well today was a crazy day! We started out the day by going to my friends church because her and her two little girls were getting Baptized that morning! What a blessing to see three people that are so close to me make this decision. It was already in the works when everything started happening with David but I believe that this helped her along in that decision. I have loved the Casting Crowns song "Lord I lift my Friend to you" I felt that this spoke to how much I wanted her to have a relationship with MY LORD and I fell so blessed that this is now resolved.

While we were at their church we ran into mutual friends that we did not know were mutual friends and she hugged me and asked why we were here and I told her that I was there to see my best friend from high school get baptized and she got a horrible look on her face and said, it is you! We use to live in the same neighborhood and she just knew us by our first names and had not made the connection that the people that she had been praying for she knew! She cried, I cried, we hugged as the children made laps around us in the pews. It was quite a moment.

Then I went home to find my house looked like PINK LAND! It was beautiful! While I was at Church Several gracious "Faries" decended on my house and turned it into babyshower land! I cannot tell you how beautiful it looked (even if just in my opinion) there was pink and tulle dripping from everything!

Thanks again to my WONDERFUL FRIENDS Gigi, Dede, Vicki, Mom, Megan.... you guys are awesome! And the award for driving the furthest goes to Rachel! Thank you for making the treck from Louisiana with an adorable diaper cake in tow! Then there was the amazing crew that showed up from work. Here are a few photos!

I cannot wait to start showing off the things that I got as Aubrey starts using them, but one friend in particular has a web site and an ETSY site and she brought some precious items that I cannot wait to get photos of her in and another friend brought an item like one she sells on her site. They are too cute! Check out her website for photos of a couple of the items, becuase I have not taken photos yet!

4.2.09 -- Went to NASA Today

Well today I went to NASA and it was really difficult (but not as bad as I thought it would be). I teared up a few times when I drove past the building I last visited him in, and then again when I drove by the new building they are building that he was responsible for. I have lived in this area all my life and I cannot tell you the number of times I have been there or been by there in my life time. I remember going there as a little girl when they still gave on site tours and Space Center Houston did not exist. The building have a comforting office building smell that is really neat. David absoloutely loved working for NASA and felt honored to be a part of such a special organization, and I am honored to be a part of the NASA family by default! They are an extremely fine group of people.

4.4.09 -- Aubrey's Room

Well I am ready to post the photos of Aubrey's Room. We have been working on it and it is not finished yet (I am sure it will be a work in progress. I wanted to share for those of you that will not be here for the shower on Sunday.
